Pennsylvania Bar Exam “Latest” Statistics

  • Of the 1,092 first-time applicants this 2018, 79% passed. Last year, 81.2% passed, up from 75.4% in July 2016, which was the lowest pass rate for any July exam for which the state Board of Law Examiners has made data about bar exam pass rates available.[3]
  • According to Superior Court Rule 304(f), each candidate must pass the written bar examination with a minimum combined score of 70% or higher on the MBE and essay sections, and a minimum scaled score of 75 on the MPRE in order to pass.[5]
